This FedEx Cup day one recap covers all of the crazy happenings from a wild first day on the golf course. The St. Jude Championship marks the first of three events that will make up this year’s tour championship, also known as the FedEx Cup.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs kicked off at the historic TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The course is a Par 70 and will play at 7,243 yards this week.

The stakes are massive this week, as only the Top 50 FedEx point leaders will advance to the BMW Championship next week.

Players currently on the bubble include Mackenzie Hughes (47), Cameron Young (48), Lucas Glover (49), Nick Hardy (50), Alex Smalley (51), Thomas Detry (52), and Taylor Montgomery (53).

FedEx Cup Day One Results

The first day of the tournament finished in wild fashion with the leaderboard consisting of a large mix of PGA TOUR mainstays, long shots, and everything in between.

Jordan Spieth (-7)

Jordan shot a spectacular bogey-free 63 to get to the top spot and looks extremely comfortable in Memphis so far.

Tom Kim (-6)

Fresh off of an ankle injury that kept him from playing since The Open, Tom shot an opening round 64 to put him in a solo second.

Collin Morikawa (-5)

Morikawa looked very polished today with a six birdie performance, including one on the tricky 18th.

Lucas Glover (-4)

Lucas Glover (-4) -The Southerner had a great day on the course in what is a massive tournament to qualify for the BMW Championship. Glover currently sits at 49th in the FedEx Cup standings and a top 4 finish would do more than enough to solidify a spot next week.
