Exhaust from watching football? Need some of the best MLB bets for September 18th to replenish your cash supply after a rough Sunday?
Don’t worry – we have some of the best MLB bets for September 18th to make this a successful start to the week!
New York Mets (+130) at Miami Marlins (-150) – 6:40 PM EST
The Miami Marlins have won 3 straight games, 6 of their last 10…they are in the Wild Card Race! Who would have thought that was possible? And how did they do it? A lineup of quality hitters and great young pitching.
Starter Edward Cabrera has been fantastic lately, with a 2.08 ERA in two September starts. He didn’t pitch well against the Mets in a previous start, but his home stats throughout the season are the most encouraging stat behind our bet in this game.
Cabrera in Miami is 6-0, has a 2.61 ERA, and opponents are hitting just .191. That’s dominance – no matter what age he is (…25 years old).
Who do the Mets put on the mound on Monday? Jose Butto – an opener who doesn’t have stats that will sway our thinking. New York is out of playoff contention and the motivation to be a spoiler won’t be enough against Cabrera.
One player prop bet note – Luis Arraez is hitting .400 over the last 7 days. Expect him to be a strong play on a number of bets.
As for the game bet, we are believers in Miami keeping their playoff hopes alive. Marlins win as the first of our best MLB bets for September 18th!
Best MLB bets for September 18th: Marlins ML (-150)
Boston Red Sox (+140) at Texas Rangers (-165) – 8:05 PM EST
One team that is falling apart right now? The Boston Red Sox. 4 losses in a row, 2 wins in their last 10 games…that’s just one more win than executives fired this past week!
Life in Boston isn’t good right now. Down in Texas, everything is still possible. The Rangers have lost 3 straight, and yet are still in the playoffs as of Monday morning (because the Mariners have also lost 3 straight).
Texas needs to win at home. And fortunately for Rangers fans, they are tied for the 4th most home wins this season. What about wins as a home favorite? 38-24, which is 4th best in MLB.
The Red Sox are a sub-.500 team on the road this season.
Pitching matchups still matter. Jordan Montgomery has done well against the Red Sox hitters except for two hitters (prop bettors, listen up) – Rafael Devers and Rob Refsnyder both hit Montgomery well.
Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford has a 6.48 ERA in September. So, even the starting pitching matchup leans in favor of the Rangers.
With wins more valuable to Texas given their playoff hopes, we have Rangers moneyline on Monday.
Best MLB bets for September 18th: Rangers ML (-165)
Seattle Mariners (-175) at Oakland Athletics (+150) – 9:40 PM EST
There is certainly a theme with our picks – believe in playoff contenders when battling teams out of contention.
Mariners against A’s is another example of that.
The A’s are the worst team in the American League, have lost 4 straight games, and Oakland is 13-33 in games against division opponents (2nd worst in MLB and worst in the American League).
On the flip side, the Mariners have the 2nd best record in MLB against division opponents. With so much on the line for the Mariners, that losing streak they have needs to end and they have the perfect opponent to play.
The M’s send Bryan Woo to the mound and he had a brilliant performance against the Athletics earlier this season. JP Sears for Oakland has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past few weeks and has pitched well against the Mariners this season.
Yes, that does make us a little nervous – Sears being on a hot streak and Seattle being on a losing streak. But, desperation and division success has us believing the Mariners pull out the “W”. This is our second of the best MLB bets for September 18th.
