The Buffalo Bills have once again loaded up their roster with talent in hopes of finally hoisting the elusive Lombardi Trophy.

General Manager Brandon Beane has staked his claim as one of the top GMs in football and had yet another strong offseason, adding the likes of Damien Harris, Deonte Harty, Dalton Kincaid, Leonard Floyd, and Taylor Rapp to supplement their core that brings a remarkable amount of continuity in today’s NFL where players move between teams more than ever before.

Those core pieces of course include Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Tre’Davious White, Matt Milano, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, and many others that have remained in Buffalo for several years now.

Some of the previously mentioned Bills players are poised to have huge years in a season with high expectations, while others will have to accept smaller roles for the greater good of the team.

With that being said, let’s dive into some of the higher/lower stats being offered in Underdog Fantasy’s pick’em entries for the Buffalo Bills, as well as the best Buffalo Bills Underdog Fantasy contest entries for 2023.

Josh Allen 32.5 Passing Touchdowns: Higher or Lower?

Josh Allen will once again enter the 2023 NFL season as one of the favorites to take home NFL MVP for the first time in his young career. During the 2022 season, only 3 quarterbacks threw over 30 touchdowns: Patrick Mahomes (41), Joe Burrow (35), and Josh Allen (35).

As mentioned earlier, the Bills only added to their potent passing attack by drafting tight end Dalton Kincaid with their top pick and picking up speedy wide receivers Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield in free agency. Because of this, the offense figures to take another step forward this year.

Additionally, Allen was often let down by his receiving core last year, which was second in the league with 29 dropped passes, only trailing the Packers who had 30. 32.5 touchdowns is a large total for Allen, but with an improved roster and the Bills’ pass-heavy offense, choosing higher seems like a good choice here.

James Cook 675.5 Rushing Yards: Higher or Lower?

With the departure of Devin Singletary to the Texans in free agency, the Bills will look to 2022 second round pick James Cook to fill in for him after three years as the team’s starting running back.

Looking at the Bills current RB room, veterans Damien Harris and Latavius Murray possess similar power running styles, whereas Cook brings much more speed to the table, is a better pass catcher, and can make people miss at a high rate which makes him the easy answer to replace Singletary.

The Bills offensive line can be questionable at times, however considering in the previous three seasons as the primary back that Singletary posted rushing yardage totals of 687, 870, and 819, Cook appears poised to shatter Underdog’s 675.5 rushing yard higher/lower pick’em.

Dawson Knox 39.5 Receptions: Higher or Lower?

After a strong 2021 campaign with 9 TDs, Bills tight end Dawson Knox saw a slight regression in 2022 under new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

In 2022, Knox posted 70 fewer yards than in 2021 and had just 6 TDs in a season where he felt like an afterthought in the offense at times.

However, 2023 figures to be an interesting season for Knox as the Bills seem intent on deploying significantly more offensive sets with 2 tight ends on the field, hence the team’s decision to spend their first-round draft choice on Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

Kincaid has been impressive during training camp and seems set up to be a huge part of the offense this year, so while he should take some attention from the defense off of Knox, his pass-catching prowess is destined to chip away at the number of targets and receptions his fellow tight end will have in the upcoming season.

Considering Knox had 48 receptions last season and will have even more competition for targets in the Bills’ offense this year, I’d take the lower for his reception total on Underdog Fantasy.
