Men’s seeding after Wimbledon draw results

While seeding doesn’t mean everything, it can be a pretty good indicator of how the competition shakes out. Despite being the second seed, all eyes will be on Djokovic to win his eighth Wimbledon men’s singles championship, putting him in rarified air. His odds are currently listed at -150 in American format.

Women’s seeding after Wimbledon draw results

Iga Swiatek is the overwhelming top seed in the women’s bracket. That said, Elena Rybakina won the event last year and we haven’t had a repeat champion in some time. Can Rybakina repeat or will we have yet another first-time Wimbledon ladies’ champion?

Wimbledon Draw Results – Key First Round Matchups

Now that we know where to find these games, it is time to look at the Wimbledon draw results. Because there are so many matches happening in the first-round of each bracket, it would be helpful to key in on a couple of matchups that bear paying attention to.

There is another thing worth noting. Because of there being so many matches to follow, this will be a focus on two men’s and two women’s first-round matches. There is plenty of great action to watch but these are the contests that should be getting the most attention right out of the gate. The middle of the bracket will likely turn out the more competitive games but there are a few storylines that bear watching in this tournament.

Men’s Bracket: Novak Djokovic vs. Pablo Cachin

This one isn’t necessarily worth watching because of the matchup itself. There is a lot of talk about the fact that Djokovic, the seven-time winner and champion of the last four events, is the second seed rather than being at the top of the list. He sits behind top-seed Carlos Alcaraz, the man who sits right behind him in many predictions.

Djokovic is on the verge of reaching rarified air. He is currently tied with Pete Sampras for the second-most Wimbledon titles in the open era with seven. A win in this tournament – which would be his fifth in a row — 2020 there was no tournament due to COVID — would put him in a tie for most all-time with Roger Federer. It would also put him in prime position to be among the “GOAT” conversation in the eyes of most fans.

Men’s Bracket: Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jeremy Chardy

Another matchup that not many are paying attention to because of the rigorous competition. Alcaraz is without a doubt the biggest, and maybe only, threat to Djokovic’s quest for history. He is by far the second-highest-rated player in terms of odds and all eyes will be on his march through the bracket.

Compared to the women’s bracket, where there is more competition, Alcaraz has a mountain to climb. He will need to play the best tennis of his life if he is going to eventually take down arguably the greatest player not only in Wimbledon history but tennis history period. There could be some real drama if and when these two take each other on.

Men’s Bracket: Ryan Peniston vs. Andy Murray

There is another former Wimbledon champion playing in this tournament though he is far from a favorite to win it all. Murray won the event back in 2016, his second win in four years following a runner-up finish to Roger Federer.

Time and injuries have not been kind to Murray since. He has been battling hip problems for much of the last several years. The now 35-year-old had surgery on his hip in both 2018 and 2019, though he refuses to attribute poor results to his hip injury. This may be the last hurrah for one of the game’s bright stars in the early part of the 2010s. A good, strong run could invoke feelings of nostalgia once again.

Women’s Bracket: Iga Swiatek vs. Zhu Lin

While the men’s bracket is seen as a foregone conclusion in the eyes of fans and bettors, the women’s bracket is far more wide open. There will be some competitive matches of note to come throughout the first-round, but many will be watching to see if Swiatek can continue her run of dominance this season.

She has been unquestionably the best player for the women this year. Entering the tournament, she is the odds-on favorite to win it all. But there have been five consecutive new winners in the ladies’ single tournament. She has as good a chance as any to make a run to the Final, though she will have some stiff competition standing in her way. A Wimbledon victory could propel her to stardom and make her a contender for the rest of the season and beyond.

Women’s Bracket: Shelby Rogers vs. Elena Rybakina

Even though Swiatek is the clear favorite, there are a few others in the field that have a strong chance of making it to the final. The first name that comes to mind is the defending Wimbledon ladies’ singles champion, Elena Rybakina. Rybakina is third in the seeding, though the Wimbledon draw results may have done her a favor in a competitive women’s bracket.

Her quest to become the first back-to-back winner since Serena Williams starts with Rogers. As this tournament has shown in the past, the best cannot be complacent in the early rounds. Rybakina will need to be at her absolute best. If she can put together another strong tournament, it will lead to some interesting matchups further down the bracket.
