MLB DFS Picks Today: SP Cristian Javier, HOU
The 2023 regular season may not have been quite what Cristian Javier wanted, at least from a statistical standpoint, but the postseason has been a time when he’s shined – and he could again on Tuesday.
In a combined 15 at-bats against Javier, the Minnesota Twins lineup has zero hits. Yes, zero…like 0…so, whether Javier has been great in 2023 or not, you can’t have a much better track record against a roster than allowing no hits, no runs, two walks, and recording six strikeouts.

Twins at home might put up a fight that is greater than Javier has seen in the past, but we’d rather follow the trends than bank on the outlier. And, with few starting pitchers on the mound today with DFS appeal, Cristian Javier is definitely one to slot in your roster.
MLB DFS Picks Today: C Jonah Heim, TEX
The Rangers catcher has not only been calling a good game from behind the dish in the postseason, but he’s also been swinging a hot stick. Heim has a 6-game hitting streak and has a hit in 6 of his last 8 games.
He also has a hit in 4 of his last 5 road games and – if all of that wasn’t enough – he’s 2-for-5 lifetime against Orioles starter Dean Kremer.
Large sample size? No. Additional evidence that Heim is a strong DFS start given his recent offensive output? Absolutely – especially with the Rangers at home. If there is going to be a game with lots of scoring, it’ll be in a slugfest between the O’s and Rangers.
Heim could find himself in the middle of the action.
MLB DFS Picks Today: 2B Jose Altuve, HOU
Speaking of being in the middle of the action – we don’t expect lots of offense in Minnesota, but Jose Altuve can still generate DFS points in lots of ways.
And, with a history going 12-for-36 against Twins starter Sonny Gray, Altuve clearly sees the right-hander well and can set the table for some of his teammates. Altuve getting a hit or walk feels like – Altuve scoring a run seems VERY likely. While there are a couple second basemen that could have a strong DFS day today, Altuve feels like a safe selection to ride with for Game 3.
MLB DFS Picks Today: SS Corey Seager, TEX
Another player that should be in the middle of scoring and DFS production today will be Corey Seager. The Texas Rangers shortstop has been a juggernaut in the postseason, backing up and validating a spectacular regular season (that should at least be in MVP consideration, before Ohtani wins it).
Against Orioles starter Dean Kremer, Corey Seager is 3-for-6 with a strikeout. No RBIs, no runs, and all singles. But, the solid .500 batting average combined with Seager’s consistency has us encouraged about him as our DFS shortstop.
