In that same period, they have racked up victories against sides like LAFC and Real Salt Lake. The Timbers have also managed to get important draws against the Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy.

The Black and Gold have won just one of their last five matches across all competitions. These poor results have seen LAFC slide from potential Western Conference champions down to third in the West. A bad result this weekend could see Los Angeles slide even further down the table. If all other results go against them, LAFC could end Matchday 37 in as low as fifth place.

Despite all of this, we like Denis Bouanga as a DFS pick for this weekend’s game. The 28-year-old Gabon international is MLS’s top scorer right now. Even if he isn’t on the scoresheet, Bouanga contributes to LAFC’s offense. In addition to his 17 goals, the winger has also contributed 6 assists.

The “Scottish Messi,” as he was once called when he first broke through in Scotland, is hitting a good stride of form as the Caps make their final playoff push. Gauld has 11 goals and 12 assists so far this season. The vast majority of those goal contributions have come in the second half of the season as Gauld had 0 goals and 1 assist throughout the Caps’ first ten matches.
The only reason we haven’t put Gauld higher in our MLS power rankings is because the Whitecaps are playing Seattle. As good as Vancouver is, we think Seattle is slightly better. Because of this, Gauld isn’t as likely to score or get an assist as some of the players we have put above him.
The Scotsman should still be able to get you some valuable points though thanks to his good passing numbers, set piece-taking ability, and key role in Vancouver’s offense.
MLS Power Rankings DFS Pick #5: Jesus Ferreira
We finish our MLS power rankings with another forward. We have to admit, this is the least sold of our DFS soccer picks, but we still think it is worth taking a flyer on.
According to the basic stats, FC Dallas’ Jesus Ferreira has taken a step back this year. However, if you look at his advanced number, the 22-year-old USMNT star is performing just as well as he did last season. This leads us to believe it’s his team that has taken a step back. Recently though, his team has stepped up in a big way.
Like many teams right now, FC Dallas are in the middle of a playoff push. The Toros are undefeated in their last six matches. Their next match is against a direct playoff rival in San Jose. Something tells us Ferreira will show up big in this match.

The Earthquakes currently have an unsettled backline that is often rotated between matches. Ferreira’s movement and San Jose’s lack of consistancy could cause the Earthquakes problems. Additionally, Dallas will be playing this match at home.
