Little groggy after an NFL Monday Night Football doubleheader? Baseball is the cure, for whatever plagues you today as we explore the best MLB bets for September 19th.
It’s a beautiful day and there are plenty of great MLB matchups to place a bet on…but you don’t just want to bet on any game – you want best MLB bets for September 19th.
Well, you’ve come to the right place! Here are our three favorite MLB picks of the day…
Los Angeles Angels (+175) at Tampa Bay Rays (-210) – 6:40 PM EST
At 48-23, the Tampa Bay Rays have the most wins as a home favorite in MLB this season. The Angels are 23-32 as an away underdog, 8th worst in MLB.
Obviously, the Angels are a shell of themselves without key players like Shohei Ohtani, and the Rays are emerging as a contender on the eve of October with a Wild Card spot in hand as of Tuesday.
While Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley has not been good in September, Angels starter Patrick Sandoval has been worse – at least in terms of record. Sandoval is 0-3, has a 9.22 ERA and .349 opposing batting average in the month of September.
Bradley doesn’t need to be good – the home trends will help carry him at home. It’s Sandoval’s recent stats that have us excited to take the Rays on the moneyline as the first of our best MLB bets for September 19th.
Best MLB Bets for September 19th: Rays ML (-210)
Toronto Blue Jays (-105) at New York Yankees (-115) – 7:05 PM EST
The Blue Jays are 18-26 on the runline as a road favorite. And if that wasn’t ugly enough, the Blue Jays have the worst record in MLB on the runline against division opponents, 14-26.
That trend really stands out to us – the AL East has not been good to Toronto, and the matchup with the Yankees on Tuesday could extend those runline struggles.
Blue Jays southpaw starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi has a worse record, higher OBA, and worse strikeout-to-walk ratio on the road compared to at home. Another interesting note, even though he’s 5-1 in day games, Kikucki is 4-5 in night games (Tuesday is a night game).
The Yankees starter, Clarke Schmidt, has been better at home this year from an ERA and OBA perspective, and he’s pitched better at night.
Are we crazy about the Yankees today? No – New York hasn’t earned that level of enthusiasm given how they’ve played this year. But do we like the Yankees to cover on the runline? You know we do! That’s why we are picking them as the second of our best MLB bets for September 19th.
Best MLB Bets for September 19th: Yankees +1.5 (-180)
Colorado Rockies (+240) at San Diego Padres (-290) – 9:40 PM EST
The Colorado Rockies have the 2nd worst road record in MLB and the worst record in the National League. Those same rankings apply to the Rockies as an away underdog. But, those are moneyline are stats…how about on the runline?
Rockies are 38-38 as an away underdog on the runline, but San Diego is 34-33 as a home favorite. Pretty close. What tips everything in San Diego’s favor? Blake Snell.
The NL Cy Young candidate toes the rubber for the Padres with a 1.00 ERA in September, having not allowed a home run this month and allowing just a .143 OBA. That’s dominance – and we expect it to continue today.
Snell doesn’t have a win against the Rockies this season, but that ends on Tuesday. Not only do we like the Padres to win, we are being bold today. The Padres need the win, Snell needs to the stats, and the Padres are the play we are riding with today.
Best MLB Bets for September 19th: Padres -1.5
