When looking at the best hitter vs pitcher matchups today for July 31st, fewer games and more aces on the bump makes finding good player prop bets a bit more of a challenge.
Because the schedule is thin and the popular bets will most likely draw large public dollars (and thus negatively impact the quality of the bet), we are throwing out some normal, abnormal, and what-the-hell did he just say plays today. All of these stats come courtesy of our friends at Butt Fumble Sports.
Best Hitter vs Pitcher Matchups Today for July 31st: Aaron Judge vs Tyler Glasnow
Aaron Judge got the night off on Sunday. He may wish that he got that day of rest on Monday because the Yankees face the Rays’ Tyler Glasnow and Judge has STRUGGLED! We are usually big believers in Judge, especially in the Bronx.
But Monday, the prop to jump on is the big man to strikeout – and the UNDER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs should be considered for those willing to go the extra mile. For now, we stay with the “K”
Aaron Judge vs Tyler Glasnow (career): 14 AB, 2 H, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 6 K, .143 OBA
Prop Bet: Aaron Judge OVER 0.5 Strikeouts
Best Hitter vs Pitcher Matchups Today for July 31st: Giancarlo Stanton vs Tyler Glasnow
Now Tyler Glasnow might own Aaron Judge, but there is another Yankee in the heart of the New York lineup that has had Glasnow’s number: Giancarlo Stanton. In 10 at-bats, Stanton has 4 hits – and three of them have been home runs!
Stanton has more home runs (3) than strikeouts (2) against Glasnow. If that isn’t ownership, I don’t know what is! Stanton to go yard is enticing for half a unit, and total bases is definitely worth considering, but over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs Is the play we are riding.
Giancarlo Stanton vs Tyler Glasnow (career): 10 AB, 4 H, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, .400 AVG
Prop Bet: Giancarlo Stanton OVER 1.5 H + R + RBIs
Best Hitter vs Pitcher Matchups Today: Shohei Ohtani vs Charlie Morton
When looking at the best hitter and pitcher matchups today for July 31st, is it blasphemous to think Shohei Ohtani will strike out? No – he’s been a strikeout machine as a hitter of late. In fact, the Great Ohtani has been K’d in 11 straight games!
Where our bet gets crazy is where we are taking the line. Given how frequent Shohei has been swinging and missing, most likely the line will be set at over/under 1.5 – and we are going for it! His stats against Charlie Morton are awful and with his streak of strikeouts, we feel comfortable fading Ohtani, at least when it comes to strikeouts (we wouldn’t touch his H + R + RBIs fearing a home run at any time).
Shohei Ohtani vs Charlie Morton (career): 6 AB, 0 H, 3 K
Prop Bet: Shohei Ohtani OVER 1.5 Strikeouts
